Emma Robinson
Walk us through your journey so far here at CCUK and tell us about some of your highlights?
My journey at CCUK started in 2018 in the street team, while doing my marketing degree. Not long after that, I was offered the opportunity to work as the temporary Marketing Assistant. Following the completion of my degree, I was hired as the content marketing executive. I think the stand-out moment for me has been creating the new CCUK website, I have been able to help build the website from the ground up, learning about SEO in real-time and developing my understanding of design and copywriting.
What made you want to work for CCUK?
For me the draw to CCUK came from the focus on employee progression and growth. As a fresh graduate, I wanted to work for a company that would encourage and support me. One of the core values of CCUK is passion and this is something that really stood out to me from my very first street star shift. I loved that my passion for the work I was doing was recognised and rewarded. I also loved the focus that CCUK had on mental health. This is something that is so close to my heart and seeing a company that goes above and beyond to ensure their employees feel emotionally supported in both their professional and personal lives, as well as CCUK’s drive to be leaders in mental health in the workplace meant for me they outranked any other company in the industry.
How are we living up to your expectations?
A big thing for me is gaining experience in a range of different things and despite my title being “content marketing” I work across a lot of areas, I remember during the interview process someone telling me that no two days were the same and they were absolutely right. I could not have imagined that nearly a year into this role I would have achieved so many career goals. I think that is what I love most about CCUK, the freedom they offer their employees to explore their professional interests and the support that is offered not only by your direct team but across the whole business.
If you could give 1 piece of advice to someone starting their career at CCUK what would it be?
I think the best advice I could give would be to show off the passion you have for what you do, share your goal and aspirations, I think during my time as a street star I told just about anyone who would listen that I saw my future at CCUK, the team worked with me to ensure this goal was achieved. I think staying determined in my goals and putting in the work meant that when the right opportunity within CCUK came along I was ready to take the leap. As some say persistence is a key ingredient to success!
